To list on Flatmates Nigeria, you need a verified host account. If you already have a guest account, you can switch to host mode from Settings → Account type. You will be prompted to complete host-specific verification, including submitting proof of property ownership or a valid management agreement (for agent-managed properties).

You will also need to verify your identity with your NIN or BVN, provide valid bank account details for payouts, and agree to the Flatmates Host Terms of Service. Verification typically takes 1–2 business days.

A strong listing title is specific and descriptive - 'Furnished private room, shared flat, Lekki Phase 1' outperforms 'Nice room for rent'. Include the estate or landmark, room type, and a key feature.

In the description, cover: what the room includes (bed, wardrobe, A/C, ceiling fan), shared spaces (kitchen, living room, number of bathrooms), utility arrangement (fixed monthly split, prepaid metre), internet provider and speed, and house rules. Mention nearby landmarks - bus stops, markets, hospitals - that are relevant to prospective tenants.

Use the amenities checklist in the listing editor to tag features like generator backup, borehole water, parking, security, CCTV, and laundry. Listings with 10+ amenities checked receive significantly more enquiries.

Photos are the single biggest driver of booking decisions. Use a smartphone with a good camera, shoot during daylight, open all curtains, and turn on all lights. Take at least 10 photos covering:

For shortlet listings, set a base nightly rate, a cleaning fee, and a caution deposit. You can also set weekly and monthly discounts to attract longer bookings, which reduce your turnover costs.
