Rebuilding Nigeria's rental ecosystem: a framework for trust, efficiency and market stability.

Our Story

“Nigeria never had a housing shortage. It had a trust shortage. We're building the fix.”

For too long, renting a home in Nigeria has meant taking a leap of faith. You wire a caution deposit to someone you have never met, for a room you have only seen in photos, and hope the keys are real. Too often they are not - the listing was fake, the agent vanishes, or the flat looks nothing like the pictures.

Our founders lived this. Between them they have chased ghost hosts across Lagos, lost deposits to people who never owned the property, and watched friends and family go through the same thing again and again. The problem was never a lack of homes. It was a lack of trust between the people who have them and the people who need them.

So we set out to remove the leap of faith entirely. Every listing on Flatmates Nigeria is manually reviewed. Every host is identity-verified. Every naira is held safely in escrow and only released once you have physically moved in. What you see is what you pay - no phantom fees, no prices that change after a phone call.

This is bigger than one app. We are rebuilding the rules of an entire market on a foundation of proof rather than promises - so that finding a home in Nigeria is safe, simple, and something you never have to gamble on again.
