Cancelling your booking as a guest

Cancel from your dashboard - refund depends on the host's cancellation policy.

Cancellation policies explained

Each host sets their own cancellation policy. There are three standard options on Flatmates Nigeria:

  • Flexible - full refund if cancelled at least 24 hours before check-in
  • Moderate - full refund if cancelled at least 5 days before check-in
  • Strict - 50% refund if cancelled at least 7 days before check-in; no refund after that

The policy for each listing is shown on the listing page and on your booking confirmation. Always check this before confirming your booking.

How to cancel

To cancel a booking, go to your Bookings dashboard, select the booking you want to cancel, and tap 'Cancel booking'. You will be shown the refund amount you are entitled to based on the host's policy before you confirm.

Cancellations cannot be undone. If you accidentally cancel or change your mind, you will need to make a new booking - subject to availability.

Refund timeline

Refunds are processed within 24 hours of cancellation. The time it takes for the money to appear in your account depends on your payment method:

  • Bank transfer - 1 to 3 business days
  • Card payment - 5 to 10 business days (depending on your bank)
  • Mobile money - usually same day

Non-refundable fees

The Flatmates service fee is non-refundable on cancellations, except in cases where the host cancels or the booking qualifies for our Flatmates Guarantee.

If the host cancels

If your host cancels your booking, you will receive a full refund of everything you paid - including the service fee. You will also receive a credit towards your next booking as compensation for the inconvenience.

Hosts who cancel confirmed bookings are subject to penalties under our hosting standards, including temporary suspension from the platform.
