Accessibility

Housing for
everyone, without exception

We're committed to making Flatmates usable by people of all abilities. Accessibility is not an afterthought - it's built into every feature we ship.

Our commitment

What we're doing

Flatmates Nigeria targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance across all customer-facing interfaces. We embed accessibility review into our design and engineering process - not as a final audit, but as an ongoing practice.

We work with users with disabilities to test new features, and we maintain an open accessibility feedback channel that feeds directly into our product backlog.

This statement was last reviewed in April 2026 and will be updated at least every 12 months.

Monitoring

What's built in

Accessibility features

Full keyboard navigation

Every interactive element on Flatmates is reachable and operable using only a keyboard. We test every release against keyboard-only workflows.

Screen reader compatible

Our interfaces are built with semantic HTML, proper ARIA labels, and live regions. We test with NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver on a regular basis.

High contrast & scalable text

All text meets WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios. Text scales gracefully up to 200% zoom without loss of content or functionality.

Mobile accessibility

Our app supports iOS VoiceOver and Android TalkBack. Touch targets meet the 44×44px minimum recommended by WCAG.

Captions & transcripts

All video content includes accurate captions. Promotional videos include audio description tracks for key visual content.

Reduced motion support

Users who prefer reduced motion will see simplified, non-animated versions of our interface transitions.

Known limitations

We're being transparent

Some older listing cards may have insufficient alt text - we are auditing and fixing in Q2 2026.

Complex filter modals may have limited screen reader support - a rewrite is planned for Q3 2026.

PDF documents (e.g. tenancy agreements) are not yet fully accessible - tagged PDF versions are in development.
