What's Included in a Shortlet Listing on Flatmates

Find out what's included in a shortlet listing on Flatmates Nigeria - from bedding and utilities to Wi-Fi, generator backup, and essential toiletries.

What every shortlet listing includes

All shortlet listings on Flatmates Nigeria are required to include the following as a minimum:

  • Bed with clean bedding (sheets, pillows, and pillow cases) for the stated number of guests
  • Towels - at least one bath towel per guest
  • Functional bathroom with hot water
  • Kitchen access with basic cookware (pots, pans, plates, cutlery) unless stated as kitchenette or studio with kitchenette only
  • Wi-Fi with the connection details displayed in the property
  • Electricity - whether PHCN supply, generator backup, or solar, the listing must state how power is provided

If any of these basics are missing or not working during your stay, contact your host immediately and then Flatmates support if the host is unresponsive.

Understanding amenities listed on the property page

Each listing displays an amenities checklist. Items with a filled icon are included; items with a crossed-out icon are specifically not available (e.g. 'No pets allowed', 'No washing machine'). If an amenity has no icon at all, it is not confirmed - message the host to verify before booking.

Key amenities to confirm in Lagos and Abuja shortlets specifically include: 24-hour generator backup or inverter, prepaid or estate water supply (many properties in dry season may have irregular supply), and DSTV or streaming subscription if entertainment is important to you.

Toiletries, cleaning supplies, and consumables

Most shortlet hosts provide a starter set of toiletries (soap, toilet paper, hand wash) and basic cleaning supplies (washing-up liquid, a mop, bin bags). This is not a standard requirement - check the listing to see whether these are included.

For stays of more than 3 nights, ask the host whether mid-stay cleaning is included or can be arranged for a fee. Regular cleaning is not standard on Flatmates Nigeria shortlets unless explicitly listed as an included service.

Common things NOT included in shortlet listings

The following are commonly NOT included unless specifically mentioned in the listing:

  • DSTV or streaming subscriptions - many properties have a decoder but no active subscription
  • Airport or road pickup and drop-off
  • Groceries or welcome hamper (some premium listings include this - confirm in advance)
  • Laundry service - you may find a washing machine but not detergent or an ironing service
  • Dedicated parking - confirm availability if you are arriving with a vehicle

If something specific is important to your stay, message the host before booking. Once you have confirmed via the in-app thread, that confirmation is binding - the host cannot remove a promised inclusion after booking.
