Check-In and Check-Out Instructions for Shortlet Stays

Most shortlet properties on Flatmates Nigeria have a standard check-in window of 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and a check-out time of 11:00 AM. These times are shown on the listing and on your booking confirmation.

If you need to arrive outside the standard check-in window - for example after a late flight into Murtala Muhammed Airport or arriving from Abuja by road after 8 PM - message your host in advance. Many hosts in Lagos and Abuja can accommodate flexible check-in with prior notice, sometimes for a small fee.

Your host will send check-in instructions at least 4 hours before arrival. These will include one of the following access methods:

• Key collection from a caretaker or security guard on-site - the most common method in Lagos estates
• Smart lock code sent via in-app message
• Key box combination - a locked key safe affixed near the entrance
• Direct handover by the host

When you receive the keys or access code, send a quick in-app message to your host confirming your arrival. This starts your stay officially and is important if any issues arise.

Before unpacking, do a quick walkthrough of the entire property. Test the air conditioning, hot water, and Wi-Fi. Check that all listed amenities are present and functioning. Take photos of any existing damage - a scuff on the wall, a crack in a tile - and send these to your host via the in-app message thread within 2 hours of check-in.

Reporting pre-existing damage protects you from being charged for it at checkout. If you discover anything that makes the property significantly different from the listing, contact Flatmates support within 24 hours of your check-in time.

On your departure day, check out by the stated time - usually 11:00 AM. Leave the property in a clean and tidy state: wash or stack dishes, place rubbish in the bins provided, and return all keys, remotes, and access cards to where you found them.

Take a final walkthrough and photos before leaving. Notify your host or caretaker as you depart so they can do their own inspection while you are still available to discuss any queries. Your caution deposit is typically refunded within 24–48 hours of a clean checkout.
